I would do it over again in a second but next time around I would force myself to use more Spanish rather than always speaking in English.

Work load was great ... I was able to schedule classes on 2 days per week (some weeks 3 days)
Computer labs at times were busy but usually you could find a free computer Internet/Email sometimes tempermental.
Food was cheap (relative to Canada) There were not a great deal of school related expenses (a few books to buy but that's about it) My monthly expenses were high because I liked to go shopping (prices are good for clothes and shoes) and I liked to go out - buy hey you'll only do this once so you might as well enjoy yourself - eh??
Not a lot here but the school did arrange social events to get the Spanish students and exchange students interacting - FUN!
Coming from Canada there is only one way to get there - air! WHile in Barcelona - I found the metro system great and taxis (in the early morning hours)
Clothing - people dress better in Spain than in Can/US (ie: jeans shorts will create stares around town) Also, bring warm clothes because it does get quite chilly in the winter (cooler than I would have expected ... especially since most apartments don't have heating) Mobile phone is probably better because it takes FOREVER to get a phone hook-up in your apartment. Don't try to open a bank accout - it will likely not happen in your life time! Must bring - a computer and rollerblades!
I lived in Sants but I don't recommend it because there is nothing around there - although it was a 20 minute walk to school which was convenient it was a long way from everything else. I pd about 45,000 pts per month for a very marginal apartment. I got my apartment through an agency and it was a rip-off ...
What can I say ... the exchange experience was full of extraordinary parties and people!!!! Never have I had so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!
